Riding for Ups 'n' Downs 2025
SUNDAY 13th JULY 2025
Join us for our annual charity fundraiser for Ups n Downs, on Sunday 13th July. Every pound raised will make a huge difference to children and adults with Down’s Syndrome.Come and help us celebrate our Riding for Ups n Downs 11th anniversary ride, with over £110,000 raised for the Northamptonshire charity since we started. This year promises to be even bigger and better, marking another milestone in this charitable endeavour.
This year we are helping another local Northamptonshire charity, Baczac. They are doing their first one day cycle event. They are aiming to bring along quite a few new riders whilst being supported by their own sponsors and supporters. They will also enter via this platform. Please tick the boxes in the entry form to indicate if you are riding for UpsnDns or BacZac.
Find out more about BacZac from their website.
When we started in 2015, there were only 34 of us, and we rode 90 miles. Since then we have gradually increased in number, and encourage as many riders, of all abilities, to come and support us, but most importantly, to enjoy themselves.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Join us at Earls Barton Cricket Club (The Grange Sportsfield, Northampton Road, Earls Barton, Northamptonshire, NN6 0HF) on Sunday 13th July. We have now 3 amazing route options (100, 60 and 25 miles) starting and finishing at the same location.
The 100 mile route is named “The McCarrick” in memory of Anthony, who was a member of the 45RC.
The 60 mile route is called “Dylan’s Dash”.
And of course we had to name the 25 mile route “Charlie’s”.
Dylan and Charlie will be supporting us all on the big day as usual. Give them a wave and a smile at the stops.
Walkers are also welcome following the inaugural walking event last year.
Riders, and walkers will have a warm welcome home as we celebrate your arrival back at the Club. Indulge in a scrumptious BBQ, be entertained by live music, and participate in a variety of activities suitable for the entire family to enjoy!
CURRENT EVENT SCHEDULE
* 100 mile riders turn up at 7.00am for a 7.30am start.
* 60 mile riders turn up at 9.00am for a 9.30am start.
* 25 milers, it’s 11.00am for an 11.30am start.
WALK OPTION
Our walk will also leave at 11.30am for a leisurely walk (approximately 4.5 miles) to and around Sywell Country Park.
*See our Facebook page for more information regarding the walk*
For the riders, there will be 3 drinks stops:
(locations to be confirmed)
Volunteers from the charity, and from our sponsors will be manning the stops, so please say hello. Also keep a look out for subsequent messages here, as well as the WHATSAPP GROUP (PLEASE sign up to this group as it’s the quickest way to get urgent messages to all riders) email and social media, as hot weather (hopefully will not be brutally hot like our 2022 ride) may mean that we bring the start times forward. In 2023, we also had to alter the long route 3 days in advance due to unforeseen roadworks, so keep your eyes peeled and keep in touch.
The shorter routes (25 and 60 miles) will be clearly signed, however the 100 miler will NOT (long riders are expected to download the route onto their cycling computers).
For future reference please let us know in the entry form if you have a cycling computer.
ROUTES
Will be posted below but nearer the time, as may have to be adjusted slightly due to roadworks. Download files will be available too.
PRICING:
Ride
- 100 mile ride £40

This year, following feedback from riders, we have decided NOT to do T-shirts, or cycling tops as we had so many left and riders don’t seem to wear them anymore. So, this year we are providing a drawstring bag decorated with the sponsors logos as well as a 750ML branded bottle for each rider. Some special gifts will also be hidden in random bags for a lucky few to find.
